Meet Dr. Thomas S. Higgins, Jr.

Dr. Higgins is a board-certified otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose, and Throat Physician) with subspecialty fellowship training from The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in the medical and surgical management of sinus and nasal disease ("Rhinology"). Dr. Higgins is one of the few sinus subspecialists with advanced fellowship training in the nation. He is a proud associate with Kentuckiana Ear, Nose & Throat, P.S.C. and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology, University of Louisville School of Medicine. He is an active member of the American Rhinologic Society. Along with his special interest in complex sinus disease, Dr. Higgins also provides quality care for the spectrum of adult and pediatric ear, nose, and throat problems.
Dr. Higgins grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated summa cum laude from Bellarmine College (now Bellarmine University), where he was President of the Student Government Association. He then obtained his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) and Masters of Science of Public Health (M.S.P.H.) with honors from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and School of Public Health and Information Sciences. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, Virginia. Following residency, he was selected to train at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions Sinus Center for an American Rhinologic Association-accredited fellowship in Rhinology (Sinus and Endonasal Skull Base Surgery). While at Johns Hopkins University, he also served as faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, ranked #1 by US News & World Reports for Ear, Nose & Throat for over 2 decades.
Dr. Higgins then returned back to his hometown to become the first ENT physician in Kentucky with advanced fellowship training in endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery (see "Services and Specialties").
